The 5,000 square foot building, based in Eastgate, under the shadow of Beverley Minster, is being renovated into state-of-the-art office accommodation and contemporary apartments for TAS Communications, an award-winning marketing and PR company. The £500,000 project will see the former bookshop and car garage renovated into an airy office space.

MJC is a one stop shop, specialising in the complete fitout and refurbishment of commercial buildings. The company offers a complete contracting and sub-contracting service for both the construction or renovation of industrial, commercial, retail, leisure and public sector buildings from minor responsive maintenance and quoted special projects, through to major capital works, Mitchell James Contractors has a team of multi-disciplined and multi-skilled professionals which meet demanding programmes and budgets.

Jamie says that the vast amount of regeneration and redevelopment in Hull and the surrounding area means that organisations are crying out for a company that can manage the complete refurbishment process, from start to finish.

He said: “I am delighted that Mitchell James Contractors has been commissioned by TAS Communications to refurbish its new office accommodation. I am confident that the project will be a huge success and will act as a benchmark for other organisations when it comes to the restoration of historical buildings for commercial use, rather than immediately opting for new-build.

“We are committed to investing in the region and working with partners to transform some of the most derelict properties, and land earmarked for redevelopment, into flagship buildings and commercial properties, which will put the area on the map for many years to come.

“In addition to refurbishment, Mitchell James Contractors has a number of other divisions including project management, construction and fitout – we provide a one stop shop for customers and offer a full turnkey building service.”

Simon Taylor, managing director of TAS Communications, is delighted to be working in conjunction with Mitchell James Contractors on the development of the company’s new offices.

He said: “When appointing a contractor to refurbish our new headquarters, it was important that the project manager had an excellent track record.

“Jamie Dempster and his skilled team have a very broad portfolio of work and we know they are more than capable of ensuring TAS Communications’ new premises mirror the professional organisation that we are.

“I am delighted to be working with them and looking forward to the completion of the project in Spring 2007."
