The awards celebrate the most successful companies and people in East Yorkshire's business community, and businesses from throughout the region have been entering to celebrate their achievements.

With the awards ceremony due to be held on Thursday, November 23, we are looking forward to hearing the results.

Simon founded TAS Communications after running his own business, working for the rail industry and becoming head of communications for the East Coast main line upgrade with Railtrack in 1999. He went on to become head of communications and public relations with East Riding Council.

In early 2005, he took on sole responsibility for the company, moved it to its present premises and has overseen a massive 214 per cent increase in turnover, from £350,000 to £1,100,000 in just one year and is well on target to achieve £2.5m this year.

"TAS Communications is a full service communications agency, delivering a range of services to clients from blue-chip organisations to local SMEs," said MrTaylor.

"TAS delivers public relations services to both public and private sector organisations, in addition to multi-media services, event management, web design, marketing services, full graphic design services, as well other bespoke services."

Each of the teams - marketing, design and PR - is headed by a director and each allows forcontinual personnel growth and development. While Mr Taylor is the public face of TAS, his standing within the communications sector means he is often called upon as an industry spokesperson.

"Simon has done more than simply increase turnover since he took on the management of the company," said PR team member Hayley Overfield. "He has given the business a strong sense offinancial direction.

"He has put financial forecasting and credit control systemsinto place and they have turned the company from a well-run small organisation into a forward-thinking, major industry player with lofty aspirations.

"His proactive approach to work is infectious and his professionalism commands a great deal ofrespect from colleagues, clients and contemporaries."
