TAS Communications named Small Business of the Year at regional awards

24th November 2006

TAS Communications added yet another prestigious award to its growing list of accolades last night (NOVEMBER 23) at a glittering regional awards ceremony.

The East-Riding based company was named Small Business of the Year at the Hull Daily Mail Business Awards 2006, held at the Wiilerby Manor Hotel.

In their sixth year, the Mail awards celebrate business excellence in Hull and the East Riding and TAS was highlighted as a leading light in the region, filling a gap in the area for an innovative, full-service communications agency.

The company was recognised for its transformation from a two-man operation formed just three years ago into a flourishing agency that now employs more than 40 professionals. With managing director Simon Taylor at the helm, the agency tripled its turnover last year and is set to achieve £2.5m this year.
This news comes hot on the heels of the company’s recent success at the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire CIPR Pride awards. TAS was named as the best communications agency in the region after sweeping the boards on the night, taking home the coveted Grand Prix award, presented to the most outstanding entry overall, and the PR Team of the Year award.

The company also picked up three other awards at the ceremony, making it the most successful agency represented at the awards.
Simon Taylor, managing director of TAS Communications, commented: “To be celebrating major success at two awards ceremonies in the space of one month is a significant achievement for the company.

“The decision to base the agency in the East Riding was a calculated risk because we knew that there was not an existing pool of resources that we could draw upon. However, we knew that making a firm commitment to this area was the right thing to do and this has paid dividends for both TAS and for the wider region.

“It is great to be recognised not only as an excellent communications agency but as a thriving business, and to be named Small Business of the Year really is the icing on the cake for what has been a phenomenal year for TAS Communications.

“Not content to rest on our laurels, we are already looking to build upon our recent success and the development of a new state of the art headquarters, an investment of some £800,000, will allow TAS Communications to go on to bigger and better things in the years to come.”

TAS would also like to congratulate its clients Wewillbuyyourcar.com for scooping first place in the Start-Up Business of the Year category and Happy Kidz Nurseries and Hull Trains as finalists in the Customer Service and Workforce Development categories respectively.
