A team of six TAS employees completed the Dove House Hospice Fun Run in Hull last weekend to raise more than £300 overall. They joined nearly 200 other fundraisers, as well as Hull KR's mascot Rufus the Robin, in the 5km run which took place on Sunday 16 March.
The run began at the Gemtec Arena and followed a route around West Park and the KC Stadium. Competitors ran two laps of the track in order to complete the 5km and achieve their hard earned sponsorship.
TAS Marketing Director Andy Acum was one of the team who took part in the event. He said: "It was a cold day and there were a few aching legs, but we're all delighted to help Hull Trains and their nominated charity Dove House."
Hull Trains, sponsors of the fun run since 2006, cover the event's running costs, allowing all the sponsorship money to go straight to Dove House. The hospice relies entirely on fundraising to cover its £4.5 million annual operating expenses, and keep all their services free of charge. They provide specialist care to people with life limiting and palliative illnesses, and are the only hospice of this type in Hull and East Riding.
Over the past two years the run has raised nearly £35,000 for the charity and it is hoped that combined with the funds from this year, the event will reach its £50,000 target.
