Marketing and PR expert returns to his roots to push Buxton FC website up another league

15th May 2008

Buxton FC's website has been given a total redesign to make it the envy of the Unibond Premier league.

Work to completely overhaul the site and add a host of new features was carried out by TAS Communications Ltd (TAS) which delivered the site free of charge for the club. www.buxtonfc.co.uk now includes league tables, fixtures and match reports that are updated following the final whistle, player profiles and statistics, news and events, the club's history, downloadable wallpapers and screensavers and all of the information to keep fans up to date with the Bucks.

Mike Barton said: "TAS developed and built a website for us that really moves us up several leagues in terms of our online presence. We're really happy with the work that has been carried out. The site is very powerful and we have the potential to provide fans with all kinds of information about the club as well as additional content that fans can download. In addition, we'll also be able to sell club merchandise directly to fans on line in the future."

TAS, based in East Yorkshire, has strong links with Buxton – Managing Director Simon Taylor was born in the town and many of his family still live in the area.

Simon Taylor said: "I've still got a huge affinity with the area and a big affection for the team so I was very keen to do what I could to make sure that the Buxton FC website matched the club's aspirations. I have taken an enormous amount of pleasure following the club's ups and downs over the years and now that I am in a position to do so, I wanted to give something back.

"I visited the ground regularly as a boy with my father who was also from the town and I now bring my own son over to watch Buxton FC whenever I can - as well as taking him to 'northern' away matches. The site will certainly play its part in raising the club's profile and puts information within easy reach of the fans to keep them in touch with everything that happens down at Silverlands as it prepares to build on this season's near promotion from the Unibond Premier League.

"All of the latest fixtures, results, transfers and ticket news will be posted on the site and the club will also benefit from additional revenue that will be generated from the inclusion of sponsors' logos and, in the future, online merchandising.

"The site certainly compares favourably to those of clubs in higher leagues. I wish the Bucks every success for the future."

Following the positive reaction to the site from Buxton FC, TAS is planning to offer to build sites for other clubs in the Unibond and beyond.

TAS can build fully content-managed sites that allow non-technical users to update match reports, results and league tables at the click of a button through a simple web browser. Other features that can be added are newsletter subscription, discussion boards and fans forums.
