TAS and HKR team up to set Super League alight

14th July 2008

East Yorkshire-based TAS Communications Ltd is the driving force behind Hull Kingston Rovers' 2008/09 season ticket campaign.

TAS has been contracted by the Robins to deliver the integrated marketing campaign Setting Super League Alight for the Super League club. The campaign aims to encourage fans to move swiftly to secure season tickets for next season, when demand is expect to be very high.

Simon Taylor, TAS Managing Director, said: "We are delighted to be playing our part in the success of one of the city of Hull's leading professional sports clubs. The club required an innovative approach to promoting its season tickets for the Super League 2008/09 season. The club is confident that season tickets will sell faster than ever and wanted to let their fans know that they needed to move quickly to secure their place at Craven Park. We've approached that task in the way that the red and whites approach a game – with professionalism, dynamism and a lot of flair. We want to stop fans in their tracks with the work that we are producing on behalf of the club and leave them in no doubt that now is the time to buy that season ticket."

The campaign will see thousands of leaflets distributed, a host of print design, traditional advertising and media campaigns and the innovative use of new media. A teaser campaign will attempt to whip fans of the east Hull club into a frenzy, with appetites whetted for next season's Super League action by a dedicated promotions team, high-profile banners and posters, along with animated website advertising and an interactive PDF landing in the inboxes of fans.

The main campaign will launch on August 3rd, when Hull Kingston Rovers take on Catalans Dragons and efforts to get fans to purchase their season tickets will step up a gear. Hull KR players will be utilised during the campaign, a viral marketing game will be unleashed on the internet, PR and advertising will increase and radio promotions will hit the airwaves. TAS won the contract ahead of three rival companies.

The launch of the 'teaser' campaign coincided with Rovers' emphatic victory over Wigan Warriors on Sunday (July 13) and Simon Taylor is in no doubt that the frenzy whipped up on the pitch by World Champion Town Crier Michael Wood – organised by TAS – played its part in the win.

"TAS and Hull Kingston Rovers share a winning mentality," he added.
